Cry Now x Smile Later: A Chicano Toy Story

Introducing Payaso & Smiley

Everybody loves the smile.
Nobody talks about what it took to get it.

That is the story behind the new Cry Now x Smile Later series by Pura Cultura Co. featuring Payaso and Smiley.

Two characters built from the same story.

One represents the hidden struggle behind every struggle. The other represents what comes after.

Built From Real Life

This series is inspired by the streets, lowrider culture, tattoo art, clown imagery, and the everyday reality of turning pain into personality. Not every smile comes from happiness.

Sometimes it comes from surviving everything that tried to break you. That is what Payaso and Smily represent. Not perfect characters. Real ones.

Meet Payaso

Payaso is the pressure.

The hard days.

The losses.

The nights nobody sees.

He wears it without saying a word. That quiet sadness carried inside.

Heavy expression.

Minimal colors.

Clean silhouette.

Everything about the design feels calm but heavy at the same time.

Payaso represents the side of life that builds you up the hard way.

Meet Smiley

Smiley is what happens after all that pressure.

Still standing.

Still moving.

Still smiling.

But now the smile means something.

It’s not faked

It’s earned happiness

He wears his Smile with the confidence who made it through hard times without losing himself.

The smile hits different when you know the story behind it.

Not Your Typical Clowns

Most collectibles today are made for quick hype.

Big heads.

Cute designs.

Cheap laughs.

Then they disappear with the next trend.

At Pura Cultura Co., we wanted to make figures that actually leave a mark.

Premium quality.

Clean details.

Real stories.

Figures that feel more like art pieces than toys.

Something you put on display and people instantly ask about.

Chicano Culture With A Different vibe

The Cry Now Smile Later series pulls inspiration from classic Chicano clown imagery, tattoo culture, lowrider art, and street storytelling but flips it into something modern and elevated.

Not watered down.

Not turned into a joke.

Not made to look cute for a quick laugh.

These figures carry attitude, emotion, and personality while still keeping that clean designer toy aesthetic. That balance is what makes them different. Creating More Than Just A Toy.

Payaso and Smily represent duality.

Pressure and growth.

Pain and Joy.

Losses and Lessons.

Anybody can smile when life is easy.

The real smile comes after the struggles.

That is Cry Now x Smile Later.

Built To Stand Out

At Pura Cultura Co. in Collaboration with OG Toy Art Studio the goal has always been to create more than just a toy.

We are building premium collectible art rooted in real people, real cultura, identity, and street influence while pushing Chicano inspired design into spaces people would least expect.

Because real stories hit harder when they are built from the stories behind the toys.
